Dunn Gardens Centennial Lecture – April 9th

“Arthur and Edward Dunn’s Woodland Gardens: Vision for Pacific Northwest Gardens” is the subject of the Dunn Gardens Centennial Lecture to be given by noted garden historian, David Streatfield. The talk with explore the history of the gardens, which were designed by John Charles Olmsted in 1915. It is one a just a handful of private Olmsted-designed gardens that are open to the public in the Northwest.
Dr. Streatfield is a well respected historian of landscape architecture who has been a long-time professor in the Department of Landscape Architecture at the University of Washington, serving as Chair from 1992 to 1996. He is known for his many publications, most notably his book, California Gardens: Creating A New Eden (1994). It was selected in 1998 by the American Horticultural Society as one of the “75 Great American Garden Books in 75 Years” on the observance of the Society’s 75th anniversary.
