TreePAC Candidate Forum

September 29, 2015 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

FSOP has joined with TreePAC, a group of local non-profits who collaborate to influence the government to protect, maintain and increase the urban forest, to host a candidate forum at the Center for Urban Horticulture (3501 NE 41st Street) on Tuesday, September 29th, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Candidates for Seattle City Council will answer questions regarding their views on preserving and improving urban forests.

Urban forest and green spaces, as you know, create healthy and livable communities and were a key element of the Olmsted Brothers’ plans for Seattle’s parks and boulevards. The goal of the forum is to provide a platform for our organizations, members, and allies to present and discuss key issues with potential City Council members. Additionally, the forum will help the community understand each candidate’s vision for green and open space in Seattle. The forum will elevate these issues and help prioritize their consideration in future City Council work.

The forum will address issues concerning the urban forest and green space in Seattle, and specific issues facing City Council members including: density and development, urban forestry funding and legislation, Parks acquisition, and comprehensive urban forest planning.

The TreePac forum welcomes all comers to show a united group in common thought on the importance of our green space. All are welcome to listen, learn, ask, and let our council candidates see how important green spaces are to us.
