Olmsted Conference at Stanford University – March 27-28

March 27, 2014 @ 8:00 am - March 28, 2014 @ 5:00 pm

Frederick Law Olmsted Jr., John Charles Olmsted’s brother and business partner, did a large part of the firm’s work in California. His work there influenced the firm’s work in Washington state and this National Association for Olmsted Parks symposium is an excellent opportunity to learn more about Olmsted design principles and how they were realized in a number of landscapes and how the Olmsted Brothers’ work shaped public attitudes toward land use and conservation.

The symposium, Frederick Law Olmsted Jr.: A Vision for the American West, will be held at Stanford University March 27-28, 2014. For more information about the symposium agenda and registration, go to the NAOP web page.

From top left, images are: view across lake with wooded hills on distant shore; six adults looking over a map spread out on a large table; massive granite dome (Half Dome) with a tall vertical face; mid-distance view of mountain biker on wide dirt trail on grassy hillside; aerial view of city landscape with skyscrapers and freeway; several kids with park ranger talking and walking toward camera.
